Colleyville

C olleyville and Keller, Texas are two burgeoning communities located in northeast Tarrant County. Northeast Tarrant County is projected to grow twice as fast as the rest of the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex area, which will result in a regional population increase of more than 100,000 new residents over the next decade. Tarrant County added 113,000 people between 2002 and 2003 and is now home to 1.56 million people, according to census figures recently released.

The appeal of both of these cities is location...location...location. Alliance Airport, Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport and the Texas Motor Speedway are all located within minutes and are the outside economic engines driving the growth and prosperity in these communities. Individuals, business executives and families have found these areas to be exciting places to live, work, and raise a family!

Colleyville is an affluent and exclusive community west of Dallas and north of Fort Worth that sits between Big Bear Creek and Little Bear Creek. It has the best of both worlds, rich culturally diverse city access nearby while living in a peaceful suburb where families spend their free time together and crime is virtually nonexistent. There are approximately 20,000 residents of Colleyville, whose average age is 40. Their annual household income is well above the national average at $121,135 and the median home value is $195,800. Retail, manufacturing, and professional services are the three largest employment sectors. Information technology, finance and insurance round out the main employers of Colleyville residents. Keller is also a prosperous city and a place where cowboys would stop and rest along the Chislom Trail of yesteryear. Keller, with a population of 27,345 residents, prides itself on offering "a country atmosphere with small city friendliness" and new residential development is expanding the city in all directions. Housing options available in Keller include elegant country estates and executive homes built in both suburban and semi-rural neighborhoods. Recent average sales price of pre-owned single-family homes is $197,600 with home prices ranging between $73,500 and $615,000. The median household income in Keller is also above state and national averages at $89,100. Bell Helicopter Textron, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp., and Harris Methodist Hospital are among the top area employers.

In their free time, residents of both communities are true epicureans. They love food, whether it is the traditional barbecue of Texas or elite international fare. One of the favorite dinner destinations is the Mansion on Turtle Creek, located between Colleyville and the city of Dallas. Now a luxury hotel, this magnificent property was once the home of a Texas cotton mogul. Today it is the site where big deals are put together, and special events are celebrated. The main dining area is the place to see and be seen, while smaller side rooms are available for those who want more privacy.

Most students living in Keller attend Keller ISD schools. Keller ISD has earned a solid reputation for academic and extracurricular excellence. Eleven of the thirteen schools that serve Keller are rated "Exemplary" by the Texas Education Agency and the other two, which opened in 2002 and 2003, are not yet rated. Colleyville is primarily served by the highly acclaimed Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District. Some subdivisions in the northwest corner of Colleyville are in the Keller ISD, and the Hurst-Euless-Bedford (HEB) district also serves some neighborhoods. The community is additionally served by the presence of several major colleges and universities. Irving, Texas, which is about ten miles away from Colleyville, offers North Lake College and the University of Dallas. Approximately fourteen miles from town is the University of Texas at Arlington. And in the Fort Worth area, also just fourteen miles from Colleyville, you will find Texas Christian University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Texas Wesleyan University.
